showing up exactly as you are is ENOUGH
you don't need to be "healed" to be whole -> practice embodying this with me tomorrow!!
The world is a shit show, and it's exhausting and some days I just want to hide away.
But another part of me wants to try to help everyone and everything. But I don't feel ready enough, or like I'm doing enough, etc...
So I get overwhelmed and stuck in these mental loops and unfinished stress cycles.
But this was dropped into my head, and I think you might need to hear it too;
We don't need your "healed" self, we need your WHOLE self.
And you're already whole.
All you need to do to feel whole is to remember & return to presence... to come home to your sense of center and wholeness instead of feeling pulled in a million directions…
Easy right?! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ *said with sarcastic raised eyebrows and a shrug*
After years of knowing this logically but struggling to feel it embodied so that I can get out of my own way, I've realized these 3 things to be true...
The simplest, most essential things (like being present) are the most difficult (because of the systems we live in).
The most valuable things take time and practice.
Practicing doesn't require preparedness but rather just showing up.
But "practicing" sounded like another to-do to me for a while. But one day the word really landed -
Showing up to practice is a practice in itself.
Practice implies presence, sometimes progress, and definitely not perfection.
I wonder if taking time to practice what helps us would hold so much resistance if we didn't live in the context of capitalism that says time is only valuable when spent making money?
Well in weaving better worlds, we need to practice what helps us become present - or else we'll keep getting swept up in the winds of it all.
We can't escape the horrors of the world, nor do we want to bypass reality, but we can work with them and tend to the body & soul underneath it all that is understandably tired and full of grief.
Yet I used to get decision fatigue from figuring out how to practice or where to start.
Because sitting with a guided meditation can be distracting or get me on my phone,
and sometimes I need more than a timer - I need a guided practice and analog visual cues.
So I crafted a method that is a pith essence of what has helped me the most. It sort of arose naturally after years of experimenting and devoting myself to multiple paths and practices which I still use adjacently.
This isn’t a replacement practice, it’s my foundational practice; what I go to without needing to think of where to start.
I made printable cards and worksheets to help you practice off-screen with visual cues.
I created examples, and guided practices, and lessons that show the big & small picture applications.
My goal with the Cyclical Mindfulness Method is to help us have a simple yet adaptable go-to practice that is rooted in what we already know but struggle to embody.
Practicing Cyclical Mindfulness has helped me to embody beyond understanding that…
cycles are best observed not controlled
repetition a natural need, not a lazy shortcut
through noticing phases or patterns we can create space to pivot
change makes space for choice
there are not always answers but there are always options and responses
less is not always more, but it is enough
showing up exactly as you are is enough
familiar foundations (or practices) create space for trust and acceptance
center is a feeling not a place
wholeness is an awareness not a shape
overwhelm is an opportunity to practice allowing in support
pausing is the most essential step
…and to me, to embody is to know through your senses, not to be “healed” or perfectly in-body every moment which is unrealistic for many of us.
It doesn’t mean that every moment I am remembering and living out these things to perfection - it means I am on a deeper path of being able to practice from a more resourced and aware space.
Through acknowledging my cyclical nature, I am whole.
Once my body knows how it feels to be centered, I can find my way back there more easily. I can return.
It can be hard to start alone - so that's why I'm hosting a practice circle TOMORROW, so we can kick off or continue integrating this practice together.
Come show up exactly as you are to re-center with me, because the world needs your whole/present self, not your unattainable "healed" self. 👉🔗
(if you see this after July 18th at 4pm ET, feel free to join us still - the replay will be up after, plus all of the course’s lessons, worksheets and more!)
