what does it mean to trust?
What does it mean to trust...?
Especially in a time with so much destruction and disappointment, blatant lies as the norm from our government (not that that’s new)...?
The type of trust I’m asking us to ponder and feel into is not the kind that bypasses what’s happening, but that which includes what else is true.
Meaning that... through embracing all that is present, in all its complexity and difficulty, we can filter, decompose and create space for being held in return.
This is something that came through me during a clients embodied astro-tarot reading the other day, that felt like more of us needed to hear too.
The type of trust that is maybe more like a faith - but not dogmatic or senseless; the kind that is embedded and interconnected.
The kind that asks “how can facing what is happening help me find choice and boundaries within it? help me intentionally reflect/respond instead of feel defeated?”
The kind that allows you…
to trust in yourself... even if you’ve made mistakes, because you still have that awareness and desire to make it right;
to be able to trust other people... even though your heart has tender wounds and rightful boundaries, yet also refuses to fully close;
to maintain trust in life and love.... even when there’s so much death and hate, yet also still a flicker of hope and tender trying through communal efforts;
to trust in the support of the sentient and unseen... even if we can’t see or hear them, but feel them in the moments we open to their presence.
…
May ‘even’ be our keyword during these times – to help us expand through and beyond the limitations and fears bred with every inhumane headline and fbi file.
Perhaps ‘even’ is a cousin of ‘enough’ - an ally that reminds us to reach for our inherent resources; to embody our innate belonging, even within the decay.
“We need more than hope, more than just a plan. We need composting, the disciplining decentering of a different metaphysics of destruction.
I believe this homelessness/hopelessness we are being habituated into [re; climate change, societal collapse, etc], this summons to fugitivity, away from the ethics of inclusivity versus exclusivity, creates room for sanctuary – and not just ‘isolated’ practices, but a movement of shared inquiries into our times.”
– Bayo Akomolafe, Coming Down to Earth
May you find ways and time to practice reacquainting yourself with what true trust feels like – the kind that lives in the mycelium beneath soil and skin always.
May the little moments of reassurance, permission, being met and supported add up over time to build new neural pathways and sensory access.
May you begin to remember the type of trust that doesn’t bypass or ignore, but includes and holds every part of you and this world.
Inclusion/acceptance, is not the same as indifference or without boundaries – it’s embracing so we can choose within instead of be influenced from without.
And if you’d like to do this in company, this is a big part of why/what i hold space for in Remembership.
I’m sharing this just after we had our bi-weekly practice circle, where we literally became mycelium – receiving and holding space and resource for what is and what could be, without having to do it all alone.
The replay lives in the library amongst 45 other themed recordings, practices, worksheets and tools for eco-embodiment experiencing and nature-based nervous system support.
Doors will be opening very soon, and you can join the waitlist now to receive a free resourcing practice. <3
May you stay supported in these times.
In grounded gratitude,
Rachael Amber
