I want to be soft & subversive at the same time
a poem & drawing
I want to be soft and subversive at the same time.
I want to be the endemic empathy that infiltrates imperialism from the inside.
I want to be a raging bonfire that wakes you up while the news sedates your senses.
I want to be the soft smoke surrounding and scorching flame reforming.
I want to be the moss on a tree stump, that rebirth you have to slow down to see.
I want to be the subversive spores in the decaying wood of the empire,
that feeling of support that’s part of yet counter to stagnancy.
Let me be sensical in the embodied not repressed way.
Let me be a bridge made of clay.
Let me be the river rocks you see in the drought, that stay for the sake of keeping shape.
Let me keep fighting fascism with abstract form, with subtle sense and tangential thought.
Let me be the revolutionary ocean who teaches continuity of cyclical force.
I am the contradiction that keeps us on course.
I am the Star of the Sea and Hekate's key.
I'll be the in-betweens, that third option, pathway beyond particulates.
I'll keep one foot on this earth and the other in the ether.
I'll infiltrate unjust systems with intuitive interconnection.
I will keep, I will care,
I will divest and then repair.
I will be soft and subversive at the same time,
Elemental universe please help me speak up and sit down on time.
We will breathe, we will create.
We will remember and we will remain.
Revolving and (de)evolving
Following the fascia of this form and beyond.
